Fabrizio -uruguayo él- leyo esta nota en la edición en papel del diario neocelandés The Dominion Post sobre las visitas de Bush y Chávez a Uruguay y Argentina respectivamente. Y decidió escribirle el mensaje que pego más abajo luego de leer que según el autor de la nota, Tom Hennigan, "si hay un país al que los uruguayos aman odiar es a su vecino del otro lado del Río de la Plata".
Prefiero no traducir la carta de Fabrizio al diario porque puede perder riqueza (e ironía)... pero si te interesa y no te manejás con el inglés, dejame un comentario y la traduzco...

"Dear Editor,
On your March 13th Edition there is an article by Tom Hennigan about the recent visit of Mr. George W. Bush and Mr. Hugo Chavez to South America. In this article the writer argues that: " if there is one country that Uruguayans love to hate is their neighbour across the Rio de la Plata". This means Argentina.
As an Uruguayan I feel the obligation to inform you that none of us hate a neighbour country that shares with us the same culture and language. Furthermore, Argentina and Uruguay stood united in many difficult historic times, and had cooperated recently in many international human rights affairs. It is also a well known fact that one of the biggest Uruguayans migrants colonies is in Argentina.
Argentineans and Uruguayans also collaborate intensely when they are out of their countries as my own experience can tell.
Mr. Hennigan has made a generalization based on general assumptions and prejudices (e.g. Australia is New Zealand's big brother).However, it is expected that journalists should come up with deeper reflections than "love to hate something".
In deed, we are facing now difficult times in the diplomatic field with Argentina. But as brothers we are, we will resolve our differences, and we will stand together as we always did.
